2 Americans fight over P25T debt

Bryner L. Diaz - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - An American national was reported to the police after he allegedly refused to pay his debts and instead punched his American friend.

Michael O’Brien, 66, sought for police assistance at Talamban Police Station Friday afternoon and reported his friend William Johnson.

Police investigation showed that O’Brien saw Johnson that day in a bar in Barangay Talamban, Cebu City.

O’Brien reportedly approached Johnson and asked when he would get his payment for the P25,000 the latter owed.

However, Johnson allegedly did not respond and ignored O’Brien, forcing latter to grab the suspect’s backpack.

It reportedly irked Johnson who then pushed O’Brien down to the stairs.  When the victim fell, the suspect allegedly continued to punch him.

The owner of the bar and the security guard on duty who witnessed the incident immediately reprimanded and broke the two off.

Johnson fled from the area while O’Brien got injured on his shoulders.

The victim was advised by the police to seek medical treatment at Cebu City Medical Center and get a medical certificate from the hospital that he can use to file a complaint against the suspect.  (FREEMAN)
