‘Swindler’ tagged in 2 more cases

Bryner L. Diaz - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - One of the seven alleged members of a “syndicate” involved in dealing fake checks arrested by the police during an entrapment operation Wednesday has been identified by two more complainants in another modus operandi.

Lorraine King was identified by Generosa Boison, 65, of Barangay Looc, Lapu-Lapu City, as the same person who allegedly swindled her of more than P200,000 in cash and jewelry.

Another complainant, a real estate broker who requested anonymity, said King also managed to fraudulently transfer under another name a property in Asturias valued at P2.5 million.

Boison and the broker, who was accompanied by Councilor Ritchie Osmeña, went to the Cebu Provincial Police Office yesterday to check if the seven persons arrested by the operatives of the Provincial Intelligence Branch and the Provincial Investigation and Detective Management Branch during an entrapment operation were the same persons who have victimized them.

Boison said that King approached her on December 5, 2014 while she was on her way to a mall. The suspect claimed to be an acquaintance and brought her to a car which King claimed to be hers.  The suspect claimed that she was married to an Australian and now lives in Australia.

At the car, Boison said, King introduced her to a person who wants to buy pump boat engines. Boison claimed to have been hypnotized and allowed King to come with her in her house where she took her money and jewelry.

“Niadto siya sa balay gi-hypnotize man ko gipasulod nako siya sa kwarto… nadala gyud niya ang P200,000…nitabang pa gani siyag hipos sa akong alahas,” Boison said.

King denied knowing Boison. She claimed that her husband is an American and not Australian.

The real estate broker also identified King as the same person who defrauded them with a P2.5 million property in Asturias. King allegedly managed to transfer under another name the land title.

CPPO director Senior Superintendent Noel Gillamac expects more complainants to show up against King and the other suspects.  King was arrested together with Heracleo Alterado, Nilda Tacandong, Zenaida Alabado, Ronie Primaco, Arlinda Mencidor, and Richard Uy for allegedly using fake checks.— (FREEMAN)
