Alleged ex-con dead in shooting
CEBU, Philippines - An alleged ex-convict man died after an unidentified assailant shot him several times past 8 a.m. yesterday morning in Barangay Talavera, Toledo City.
Romulo Sejuela, 32, died after he sustained multiple gunshot wounds on his body.
Police Officer 2 Carlo Barluado, desk officer of the Toledo City Police, said that the victim was previously imprisoned and convicted for the crime of frustrated murder.
He said that at past 8 a.m. yesterday morning, residents in the area heard several burst of gun fire but just disregarded it.
When a resident happened to pass by the crime scene, he saw the victim on the ground.
He immediately reported it to the police who immediately went to the crime scene.
The victim sustained fatal gunshot wounds on his back which exited through his chest.
The police believed that the victim might have tried to run and escape but the assailant shot him that led to his death.
Barluado said that nobody saw the incident that could lead to the identification of the gunman.
The police believe that personal grudge might be the motive of the crime and hinted that his death might have a connection with the crime that he committed.
The police are still conducting further investigation of the shooting to identify the suspect and of the motive of the killing.
The forensic evidences recovered were brought to the Regional Crime Laboratory-7 for further examination. (FREEMAN)
