Dep’t heads told: Excel or face another revamp

CEBU, Philippines - Mayor Michael Rama has warned his department and assistant heads to do exemplary works within at least six months; otherwise another reshuffle will be made.

“I already made a directive among the department and assistant heads to do their job well or else they will be reshuffled within six months and others in three months time. But let’s just see first how they work,” Rama said in a press conference yesterday.

The recent movement includes lawyer Dominic Diño who is now an assistant city administrator for economic enterprise, as well as mayor’s chief of staff. Diño replaces Cherriemel Dianne Muego who is transferred as assistant head of the City Protocol Office headed by lawyer Leslie Reyes.

Diño’s assistant Mary Ann Suson will now assume as the new HRDO head together with her new assistant department head Juvy Morelos from the City Administrator’s Office.

City assessor lawyer Ferdinand Cañete is reassigned to the City Legal Office, while his assistant Liezl Gonzaga will now head the City Assessor’s Office.

Rady Diola, authorized representative of the mayor to the Local School Board, will also serve as “overseer” of Rama’s specials projects and programs, among others.  

The Cebu City Medical Center will no longer have chief of hospital but two medical directors instead. Dr. Gloria Duterte will now be the director for medical services while lawyer Rey Chris Panugaling assumes as director for administration.

“I have seen CCMC and dili ni madala og usa ka tawo lang kay dako kaayo ang trabaho so it needs to be divided,” Rama said.

Moreover, former City Traffic Operations Management executive director lawyer Rafael Yap was promoted as head of the Cebu-Bus Rapid Transit Office.  

Vic Caindic, on the other hand, assumes as CITOM executive director assisted by Joy Tumulak as operations chief.

 The retained department heads are Marietta Gumia (City Budget Office), Engr. Dionisio Gualiza (General Services Office), Arlene Rentuza (Internal Audit and Services Office), lawyer Mark Salomon (city accountant), Conrado Ordesta (Management Information and Computer Services), Engr. Jose Marie Poblete (Department of Engineering and Public Works), Engr. Kenneth Enriquez (City Planning and Development Office),

Dr. Daisy Villa (City Health Department), lawyer Evangeline Abatayo (Civil Registrar), Diwa Cuevas (city treasurer), lawyer Gerone Castillo (city attorney), Rolando Ardosa (Department of Public Services), Suzanne Ardoza (Department of Manpower Development and Placement), Joey Baclayon (City Agriculture Office), Dr. Pilar Romero (Department of Veterinary Medicine and Fisheries), Randy Navarro (City Environment and Natural Resources Office) and Dr. Ester Concha (Division for Social Welfare and Services).  (FREEMAN)
