Teacher stabs self with screwdriver
CEBU, Philippines - A 34-year-old public school teacher was found dead after the allegedly committed suicide by stabbing himself with a screwdriver inside his parent’s house in Sitio Pakpakan, Barangay Basak in Lapu-Lapu City last Wednesday night.
Grantfil Parantar, a resident of Sitio Ylaya, Barangay Marigondon and a faculty member of Gun-ob National High School was found bathed in blood inside his sister’s bedroom with a wound on his head, said Lapu-Lapu City Police Homicide Section prober SPO2 Manolito Abellanosa.
Parantar suffered a stab wound on his forehead, police record said.
An hour before the suicide, Parantar told his wife Katlyn that there was somebody outside their house in Sitio Ylaya who wanted to kill him.
The police said Parantar was reportedly on a state of hallucination, hailed a tricycle and went to his parent’s house in Barangay Basak. Abellanosa said Parantar took a screwdriver with him before he locked himself inside the room of his sister Febilyn Eyas.
Felix, the victim’s father, was inside their house when he noticed unusual noise from Febilyn’s room. Because it was already late in the evening when he heard the noise, he approached the room to check.
According to police prober, Felix called the Barangay Peacekeeping and Safety Officer in their place to check the situation but when they opened Febilyn’s room, they were shocked to see Parantar on the floor covered with his own blood.
The BPSO contacted the Emergency Rescue Unit Foundation who tried to revive the unconscious Parantar but to no avail.
Abellanosa said he advised the family to submit the victim’s body for autopsy examination to determine the cause of Parantar’s death.
The father and the victim’s wife told Abellanosa that they were able to notice the victim’s strange actions in the past days before the alleged suicide. They also discovered Parantar’s alleged ‘hallucination’ before the incident. (FREEMAN)
