Cop seeks Ombudsman’s help vs wife, her lover

CEBU, Philippines - A policeman assigned in Lapu-Lapu City Police Office has reportedly filed a complaint before the Office of the Ombudsman-Visayas against a member of the Special Weapons and Tactics team of the Cebu City Police Office.

Lawyer Maria Corazon Naraja, office spokesperson, said the complaints for grave misconduct and violation of National Police Commission memorandum circular 2007-001, otherwise known as Uniform Rules of Procedure, will be evaluated to determine if there is basis to refer the same to the Ombudsman for the Military and Other Law Enforcement Officers.

The tourist police officer has earlier filed an adultery case against his wife and the SWAT member before the Mandaue City Prosecutor’s Office.

The FREEMAN is withholding the names of the persons involved due to the sensitivity of the case.

The SWAT member was arrested after he was caught inside a motel in Mandaue City with the wife of the tourist policeman.

Based on report, the Centro Police Station of Mandaue City Police Office received a call from the complainant seeking for assistance. He was allegedly already suspicious that his wife was having an affair.

He said that on December 3, his wife was fetched by the SWAT member and the two boarded a motorcycle allegedly issued by the CCPO.

He tailed the two who headed to a motel at the North Reclamation Area in Mandaue City.

After receiving a call, the operatives of the Centro Police Station and the SWAT team of MCPO proceeded to the area and eventually arrested the two while they were about to leave the motel.

The suspects, who were both married, denied having an affair, claiming they were business partners and that they went to a motel so they could divide the profits from their business. — (FREEMAN)
