City drivers undergo seminar on traffic rules
CEBU, Philippines - At least 1, 500 drivers of the Cebu City government were made to undergo a seminar-workshop on traffic rules and regulations.
This, after General Services Office chief Dionisio Gualiza received reports from the Cebu City Traffic Operations Management and from different police stations that city government vehicles have figured in accidents and committed violations.
“Usa ra sa speakers ang CITOM kay usahay kaning mugamit og red plate wala na kaayo’y discipline,” Gualiza said.
According to reports, at least seven and up to 10 vio-lations and accidents recorded in a month involve city government drivers.
While the numbers aren’t alarming, Gualiza said the drivers need to be educated because it is their job to take good care of government vehicles. The seminar was organized last week.
“Kinabuhi man pod nila atong giapas ana nga dili gyod magkiat, dili mag-hubog-hubog, dapat magmatngon gyod ta,” he said.
He said he also asked CITOM operations chief Jonathan Tumulak to report to his office on the violations committed by city government drivers.
Gualiza said the drivers would also be made to undergo seminars for their safety and that of properties of the city government.
The city also plans to include in the seminar the drivers at the barangay level.
“At least aware sila sa ilang pag-operate, pag-drive, and ang maintenance, pag-handle and manage sa pag-operate sa sakyanan,” Gualiza said.
He said it has been a policy that drivers should be the one monitoring their vehicles.
“Magmatngon ka aron dili madaot imong sakyanan, dili pataka og padagan, proper monitoring sa trucks, mga trip tickets, recorded ba ang tanang pagkuha nila sa fuel,” he said. (FREEMAN)
