Sinulog Queen is Ms. Earth ‘14
CEBU, Philippines - Another Filipina was crowned Miss Earth in a glittering ceremony at the UP Theater in Manila last night.
Jamie Herrell, the 2013 Sinulog Festival Queen, bested candidates from Brazil, Mongolia, Slovak Republic, Venezuela, USA, Russia and Spain who also made it to the Top 8.
The first Filipina to be crowned Miss Earth was Karla Henry, also from Cebu, in 2008.
Herrell was Sinulog Festival Queen last year and represented Cebu City in the Miss Philippines Earth competition this year.
During the final question round, Herrell was asked what she would do to help slow or reverse the effects of global warming if she would win the crown to which she replied, "Global warming has been known as a very long overdue issue. If I will win tonight, I will start with the kids. They are the people of tomorrow and if we teach them, they will also help the community." (FREEMAN)
