P2.3M drugs seized, 8 fall in drug raids
CEBU, Philippines - Over P2 million worth of shabu was confiscated by the police in three separate raids that resulted in the arrest of eight suspected drug pushers in Cebu.
Bulk of the drugs was seized by the operatives of the Provincial Intelligence Branch during a raid Tuesday afternoon in Barangay Tabunok, Talisay City against Paquito “Paking” Hisola, 33, of Samboan town.
PIB operatives confiscated an estimated P2.3 million worth of shabu from Hisola during a buy-bust operation. His cohort, Diane Ortega, 27, of Makati City, and her live-in partner, Redomar Tiana, 42, of Barangay Mohon, Talisay City were also arrested during the operation.
Senior Inspector Armando Labora said his team received information Tuesday morning about Hisola’s illegal activities, prompting them to verify the information.
“Naay information nga nadawat sa opisina, gi-verify sa atong tropa, positive ang identification sa suspect,” Labora said.
The PIB immediately set up the operation by deploying an undercover cop to transact with Hisola.
“Ang gi-order one hundred (100) grams, ana siya nga duna siyay stock two hundred (200) grams mo-go ba mi, among gipa-pursue ang transaction,” Labora said.
The two other suspects allegedly accompanied Hisola during the transaction. The suspects claimed that their drug supply only came from within Talisay City.
Three other drug suspects were arrested Tuesday by the operatives of the City Intelligence Branch in Barangay Tejero, Cebu City during a separate buy-bust operation. Police operatives also seized more than 40 packs of shabu from Jeffrey Villomo, 23.
CIB head, Chief Inspector Romeo Santander, said they received information about Villomo’s illegal activities in the area. The other suspects were identified as Sandra Mae Montesclaros, 27, and Albert Montesclaros, 41.
The police confiscated drug paraphernalia from Sandra while an unlicensed firearm was seized from Albert.
Two people were also arrested for selling illegal drugs in Sitio Pagutlan, Barangay Tayud, Liloan, Cebu Monday evening.
Joe Marie Yap Jayag, 20, was arrested after he sold two small packs of shabu to an undercover policeman. The police also confiscated a magnum .357 revolver from his possession.
Jayag’s companion, Regie Robinson, 34, was likewise arrested during the operation.
Criminal complaints for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act are being readied against them. A separate complaint for illegal possession of firearm will be filed against those who were caught in possession of guns. — (FREEMAN)
