Man with pending warrant shot dead
CEBU, Philippines - A 31-year-old man with a standing warrant of arrest was shot dead by a lone gunman past 11 p.m. Saturday in Sitio Tabok, Barangay Yati, Liloan town.
Reymun De Guzman, 32, died immediately after he was shot several times by a still unknown man in front of his girlfriend.
Police Officer 1 Eden Pepito, desk officer of Liloan police, said that the victim was talking to his girlfriend when suddenly the gunman came from behind wearing a violet varsity jacket.
The gunman shot the victim five times in his body and immediately fled.
The Crime Scene Investigation personnel recovered five empty shells of a .45 caliber pistol from the crime scene while a 22 caliber magnum revolver was recovered from the victim.
The girlfriend of the victim told police that the suspect stood about 5’5” feet, is of medium build and was wearing a ball cap and slacks.
Police Officer 1 Allen Lecciones, warrant server at the Liloan Police Station, confirmed that the victim had a standing warrant of arrest for grave threats.
Lecciones said that on Saturday morning, he was looking for the victim but De Guzman left his house before the police officer had arrived.
“Siguro ug nadakpan to naku siya sir, buhi pa siguro to siya,” Lecciones said.
Liloan police are still investigating the killing of De Guzman. (FREEMAN)
