Boholanos wish to meet Pope Francis
TAGBILARAN CITY, Philippines— Boholanos also long for Pope Francis to make a stopover visit in Bohol during his official visit to the country in January 2015.
Bohol Governor Edgar Chatto told reporters they are wishing that Pope Francis will include their province in the 2015 visit itinerary.
“We invited the Pope. We hope that he will consider. But as far as the last coordination with Tagbilaran Bishop (Leonardo Medroso), this might not be possible. And we understand,” Chatto said.
An invitation, through the diocese of Tagbilaran, has been sent informing the Pope of the Boholanos’ intentions of his presence.
He further pointed out that the hardest earthquake-stricken province already has a representation through the five chosen tremor survivors to dine with the Pope in Palo, Leyte.
Cebu has likewise invited Pope Francis to drop by the Queen City of the South during the same trip.
Basilica Minore del Sto. Niño rector has sent two letters, one last year as an invitation to Kaplag 2015, and the most recent one sent September following the formal announcement that the Pope will visit typhoon and earthquake devastated Philippines. — (FREEMAN)
