CEBU, Philippines - Motorists and commuters plying S. Osmeña Boulevard are advised to prepare for heavy traffic as phase 3 of the road concreting project starts today.

The Department of Public Works and Highways will be closing the thoroughfares from General Maxilom Extension (pier 4) up to V. Sotto Street (pier 3) along the port side to pave the way for the concreting and rehabilitation works for at least two months.

The P289-million project covers 2.503 kilometers of S. Osmeña Boulevard, from the bridge near the Cebu International Port that connects Cebu City to Mandaue City, to Palma Street, near the subway across Plaza Independencia.

While the project is ongoing, the City Traffic Operations Management has cautioned the motorists for a new rerouting scheme, advising them to follow the traffic signs.

Public Utility Jeepneys traversing along S. Osmeña Boulevard shall turn left to V. Sotto St., left turn to Arellano Boulevard, going straight, then turn left to Second Street, right turn to Baclig St., turn left to Quimonda opening, right turn to S. Osmeña Blvd., then to their destination. Except for Route No. 02B that exit at T. Padilla junction, then proceed to Benedicto St., left turn to Gen. Maxilom Ave., back to their usual route, then to their point of origin.

North-bound vehicles shall turn right to V. Sotto St., left turn to Arellano Blvd., go straight, left turn to Second Street, right turn to Baclig St., then may exit at Quimonda opening or at Cabahug Junction near CPA building.

South-bound vehicles will have the same access at JL Briones St. or at J.C. de Veyra St. in going to their destination. However, Arellano Blvd. shall be One-way traffic flow from V. Sotto St. to T. Padilla Extension.— (FREEMAN)
