Guard says jealousy pushed him to shoot colleague dead
CEBU, Philippines - The security guard who shot and killed a fellow security guard in Banawa, Guadalupe, Cebu City on Thursday admitted to the killing, saying jealousy pushed him to commit the crime.
Charlito Llanto Jr., 30, said he was not able to control himself that day after seeing his live-in partner Eunela Romero and his colleague Raul Arsolon, 27, sweetly talking to each other.
Llanto believed that Romero, also a security guard, was having an illicit affair with the victim. He said he started to become jealous since Romero was assigned in the subdivision where Arsolon was also assigned.
“Murag naa ko’y nabantayan sa ilang duha ba. Di na siya paakbay. Nau-sab na siya. Lain pa gyud akong nasaksihan gahapon (Thursday). Akong nakit-an nga gihikap ang nawong sa akong uyab, gikusi, diha ko naglagot. Di nako makaya magtan-aw sa ilang duha,” he said.
Arsolon and Romero from Mishem Security Agency and Manpower Services were assigned in Country Homes in Banawa while Llanto from Arco Force Security Agency was designated in a remittance center beside the subdivision.
According to Llanto, he confronted Arsolon earlier before he shot him.
After shooting the victim, Llanto escaped but later surrendered to authorities.
He initially surrendered to the barangay officials in Pasil and was brought to San Nicolas Police Station. He was then turned over to Guadalupe Police Station.
Romero, who testified as a witness to the crime, said she was preparing for work since she would be repla-cing Arsolon who was preparing to go home that time when Llanto suddenly entered the guardhouse.
The suspect reportedly said “Sakpan na gyud mo” and shot Arsolon in the chest.
Romero described Llanto as a jealous partner. She added that she does not have a relationship with the victim.
