The arrest came after Cebu Provincial Police Office director, Senior Superintendent Noel Gillamac, ordered Manatad to conduct operations against bad elements in Carcar.

Gillamac congratulated the Carcar City for their accomplishment, saying he will recommend that they be given commendation from the Police Regional Office-7.

He also directed Manatad to look into previous shooting and robbery cases in Carcar City and to conduct ballistics examination on the confiscated firearms.

Strafing suspect nabbed

Meanwhile, the Minglanilla town police arrested yesterday a suspect in Wednesday dawn’s strafing incident.

Cristito España, 36, of Vito, Minglanilla town was arrested after police recovered a .45 caliber pistol and a carbine rifle from him yesterday afternoon.

Armando Orillano, said to be the registered owner of the .45 caliber pistol, eluded arrest when the police arrived.

Orillano reportedly dropped his gun, which was then taken by España together with the carbine rifle.

Gillamac said that based on their inquiry with Camp Crame, they learned that the firearm is registered to Orillano who is also a suspect in the strafing incident.

Because Orillano’s firearm was used in the incident, police will be filing charges against him for indiscriminate firing.

España will be facing charges for violation of the Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition.  (FREEMAN)
