Morning blaze guts interior design shop

Rhea Clarissa B. Igot - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - An early morning fire hit an establishment for interior designs yesterday along F. Cabahug Street, Mabolo, Cebu City.

The Cebu City Fire Department responded to the alarm at Comfac Global Group at around 7:03 a.m.

Senior Fire Officer Daniel Relatado Jr., fire investigator, said that the fire was under control at 7:10 and was declared fire out at 8:16 a.m.

Upon investigation, he revealed that the fire was due to an electrical short circuit.

Before the fire, the guard, who was on duty at the time of the incident, reportedly heard a big explosion inside the building.

Nine fire trucks from Cebu City and other fire trucks from neighboring barangays responded to the alarm.

Comfac Global Group is one of the country’s leading systems integrator and total-fit contractor for work space facilities. It produces interior designs for offices in Cebu City.

The damage to the establishment was estimated at P200,000.

Relatado said nobody was injured in the fire since there were no people inside as it was a holiday. No other property was damaged in the incident.  (FREEMAN)
