Robber caught at checkpoint
CEBU, Philippines - A suspected robber was arrested by the police at a checkpoint in Sanciangko Street, Barangay Pahina Central, Cebu City, last night, just after he reportedly robbed a woman.
Roland Agraviador, from Sitio Tumoy, Barangay Pahina Central, was apprehended by elements of the Carbon Police Station who were conducting a checkpoint that time. The team was led by Senior Inspector Pablito Sarnio.
Agraviador reportedly robbed Irenia Alfonzo, 39, who lives in Barangay Basak Pardo.
Initial investigation showed that the victim was riding a jeep heading to Barangay Basak when Agraviador, who posed as a passenger, suddenly held a knife against her and declared a robbery.
The suspect demanded Alfonzo to surrender her silver earrings to him. Agraviador, however, did not disembark from the jeepney immediately after the robbery.
When the jeepney they were riding passed by a police checkpoint, Alfonzo shouted for help. The police then responded to the alarm and ordered the jeepney driver to stop.
A knife and the pair of earrings owned by the victim were recovered from Agraviador.
The suspect is currently detained at the Carbon Police Station. (FREEMAN)
