3 arrested for gun possession
CEBU, Philippines - Two men were arrested in Dalaguete town Thursday evening for being in possession of a fragmentation grenade and several firearms and drugs.
Frankie Ambrad and Julito Belia of Barangay Mantalongon, Dalaguete were arrested but their companion, Crispin Otom, managed to flee.
The operation was conducted past 11 p.m. at a vulcanizing shop.
A police officer attempted to buy a pack of shabu worth P500 from Otom but the latter reportedly sensed he was being entrapped and fled immediately.
Unfortunately for Ambrad and Belia, they were trapped inside the vulcanizing shop. Police recovered four small packs of suspected shabu, 22 caliber revolvers, tow magazines of an assault rifle with two live ammos, a fragmentation grenade and drug paraphernalia from them.
The day after in Camotes Island, a 17-year-old boy was arrested in Poro town for bringing with him an unlicensed firearm.
Members of the Poro Police rushed to Barangay San Jose after receiving a call that a man with a gun was spotted by the road.
Police said the suspect was standing by road when they arrived and reportedly attempted to run away but was cornered. He then surrendered peacefully to the authorities and turned over a .38 caliber revolver with two live ammunitions.
At the police station, police found out that the suspect is just a high school student and did not have papers to carry the gun.
It was unclear why the boy was bringing a gun. He is now under the custody of the Poro Police. (FREEMAN)
