Davide mum on Madrigal’s equest for a meeting

The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines -  Cebu Governor Hilario Davide III has kept mum on what can be expected during his meeting with his embattled chief of security, Loy Madrigal.

“We cannot issue a statement as of now. I read they will meet on Monday so unya na lang after sila mag talk,” said Capitol spokesperson Ethel Natera in a text message.

The Freeman tried to contact Davide to confirm the meeting but to no avail.

Just this Thursday, Davide advised Madrigal to resign from all his posts in Capitol after photos of him and his secretary in an intimate act went viral on Facebook.

Madrigal, who is also chief of the Provincial Anti-Illegal Fishing Task Force (PAIFTF), had said he would want to meet with Davide in the hope of changing the governor’s mind. He said the photos, which were said to be taken inside the airport waiting lounge, were manipulated via photoshop.

Meanwhile, Medellin Mayor Ricky Ramirez, who uploaded the photos on his Facebook, challenged Madrigal to show the actual photos taken from his phone to prove the alleged manipulation.

Ramirez said he will step down as mayor if Madrigal is proven right. He posted the challenge also on Facebook.

Ramirez said information about the alleged affair between Madrigal and his secretary came from the woman’s husband whom he got in contact with. According to Ramirez, the secretary and her husband only got married last year after living together for seven years. They have two children.

Yesterday, Ramirez also shared the Facebook status of a certain Neil Madrigal who claimed to be Madrigal’s son who said that Madrigal has not been supporting them. —/JMO (FREEMAN)
