18 hurt in Toledo road accident
CEBU, Philippines - Eighteen people sustained injuries after a multicab and a cargo truck collided in Barangay Dumlog, Toledo City Sunday evening.
The multicab driver, Cornillo Oberes, a resident of General Climaco, Toledo City, was reportedly under the influence of alcohol.
In the initial investigation conducted by P03 Julius Sanchez of the Toledo City Traffic Section, the multicab and the truck came from opposite directions and collided upon reaching a curved lane at Barangay Dumlog.
The multicab reportedly took the center lane resulting to the collision as it hit the left portion of the cargo truck.
Some of the passengers of the multicab sustained brui-ses and injuries as they were thrown off the vehicle.
The victims were rushed to the Toledo City Hospital for medical treatment but one Benjamin Capacite was brought to a hospital in Cebu City after sustaining serious injuries.
The cargo truck, driven by John Mark Cabonero, came from delivering cement in San Remigio and was about to return to Naga City.
The city traffic section of Toledo is still conducting an investigation into the accident. (FREEMAN)
