CEBU, Philippines - A man shot and killed his neighbor who was arguing with his wife inside their house in Barangay Poblacion Oriental, Consolacion Saturday.

Patrocenio Roa, Jr., 37, succumbed to gunshot wounds in the body while suspect Amito Lagahit, 54, fled after shooting the victim.

Investigation showed that Roa was having a heated argument with his wife at 1 pm last Saturday when their neighbor, Lagahit, went inside their house and shot him several times.

According to the neighbors, they saw the victim allegedly hit his wife, which Lagahit might have also witnessed, prompting him to get mad at the victim.

Roa was brought to Eversely Child Sanitarium in the nearby Mandaue City but he was declared dead on arrival.

Police officers recovered four empty shells of a cal. 45 pistol from the crime scene.

They are now conducting a hot pursuit operation against the suspect.

Meanwhile, a 73-year-old man was also shot to death by an unidentified assailant at past 4 pm yesterday.

Felicisimo Gelay, a native of Misamis Oriental, died immediately after sustaining a gunshot wound to the head.

According to Police Officer 2 Reynaldo Vidas, desk officer of Dalaguete Police Station, the septuagenarian was walking on his way home after watching a cockfight when a man riding on a motorcycle came from behind him and shot him once to the head. He died on the spot.

Responding policemen recovered an empty shell from an unidentified caliber of firearm from the crime scene which they will be submitting to the crime laboratory for examination.

The police are now investigating the incident to determine the victim’s murderer and his motive.  (FREEMAN)
