Nigerian bites cop in the hand
CEBU, Philippines - A Nigerian woman landed in jail for direct assault and drunkenness after she allegedly bit a police officer yesterday dawn in Barangay Capitol Site, Cebu City.
Offing Precious Ekie Effiom, 29, will be facing criminal complaints for alarm and scandal, direct assault, and drunkenness. Police Officer 2 Florencio Cabanlit was asked to respond to a commotion along Osmeña Boulevard after a security guard called for police assistance. Cabanlit found Offing lying on the pavement along the sidewalk and tried to help her stand. The suspect allegedly resisted and bit Cabanlit’s left hand, prompting the police officer to arrest her.
The police took Offing to Cebu City Medical Center where she tested positive in the liquor test. Police Officer 2 Brando Nacario, desk officer at Fuente Police Station, said they had a hard time getting the personal circumstances of the suspect because she refused to talk to them. Criminal complaints will be filed on Monday against her before the Cebu City Prosecutor’s Office. (FREEMAN)
