CEBU, Philippines - There will be no work and classes in Cebu on Tuesday in commemoration of the 136th birth anniversary of the President Sergio Osmeña, Sr.

Republic Act No. 06953, which President Corazon Aquino signed into law on May 2, 1990, declared September 9 as a special non-working holiday across the province.

The Cebu City's Cultural and Historical Affairs Commission will lead the commemoration in the city.

"This is the best time to give tribute to the great person who made difference in the lives of the Cebuanos and the whole nation," said CHAC chairperson and Vice Mayor Edgardo Labella.

Labella said there will be a Holy Mass that will be celebrated by Monsignor Roberto Alesna, which will be followed by a program with a floral offering to be led by the heirs of the late president.

Labella said the commemoration will take place at the President Sergio Osmeña Sr. marker at the corner of Lapu-Lapu Street and Osmeña Boulevard where the late President was born.  (FREEMAN)
