CEBU, Philippines - The Philippine Councilors League (PCL) – Cebu Chapter has pledged to donate light-emitting diodes (LED) televisions and digital versatile disc (DVD) players to different daycare centers in the province.

PCL-Cebu Chapter President Ivy Durano-Meca said there are initially 300 day care centers identified by the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office, which will benefit from the project.

The TVs and DVD players will be distributed during the first week of October in time for Children’s Month. A total of P1 million from the Office of the Governor has been allocated for the purchase of the TVs and DVD players.

Meca explained that the recipients were chosen based on criteria set by the PSWDO.

“Criteria kung kinsay angay makadawat kay naa man tay day care centers nga wa pay kuryente,” she said.

Also yesterday, the National Movement of Young Legislators distributed 24 DVDs and LED TVs to different day care centers in the province.

Earl Tidy Oyas, NMYL Cebu Chapter President and councilor of Catmon town, said the donation is part of the P1 million assistance given by the Office of the Governor last December.

The recipients were also chosen through a raffle, Oyas said.

Considering that they have the same projects, Meca said the PCL is also coordinating with the NMYL in the distribution of the materials so as to avoid replication. —/JMO (FREEMAN)
