CEBU, Philippines - Almost P500,000 worth of illegal drugs were seized by the police in separate operations in the province Tuesday.

Several packets of shabu worth almost P400,000 and firearms were seized by the Provincial Intelligence Branch in an operation against illegal drugs Tuesday evening in Barangay Poblacion, Sibonga.

The subject of the operation, Jonathan Dayagan, was arrested by the police, as well as his cohorts Ray Llanos and Domingo Nacua.

PIB operatives, who were armed with a search warrant issued by Regional Trial Court Judge Wilfredo Navarro of branch 19, Cebu City, proceeded to the residence of Dayagan in Barangay Napo, Carcar City after the arrest in Sibonga.

Superintendent Rodulfo Albotra, PIB chief, said that they could not arrest Dayagan in his house as he was always sighted in Sibonga, prompting them to primarily conduct a buy-bust before they implemented the search warrant.

Recovered from the three were four large, four medium, and 39 small packets of shabu, P1,500 marked money, a .45 pistol with magazine loaded with seven bullets, a rifle, and five rounds of .357 ammunition.

Dayagan denied owning the shabu but admitted that he was once detained but was acquitted.

In a separate operation, cops were able to seize illegal drugs with an estimated cost of P83,000 during a search conducted at the house of an alleged drug pusher in sitio Tunga, barangay Tanke, Talisay.

By virtue of a search warrant issued by Judge Soliver Peras of the Regional Trial Court Branch 10, the Talisay police searched the house of Eugene Hermosisima, an alleged level 2 drug pusher who can reportedly dispose at least 50 grams of shabu per week.

However, Hermosisima was able to escape but the police were able to arrest Mateo Resuta of Lower Mohon, Talisay and Brendo Cabañero of Sombrea, Lawaan 1, Talisay, who were both caught in the act sniffing shabu.

The police also arrested Aljun Hermosisima, 18 and Albert Hermosisima, 22, sons of Eugene.

According to Inspector Rodgene Fudotan, chief of operation of the Talisay police, Eugene is a known drug pusher in the area and makes his house as a drug den.

Eugene reportedly includes his four children, including two minors, in his operations.

“It was confirmed nga naa gyu’y involvement iyang mga anak nga minor sa iyang illegal drug trade,” said Fudotan, adding “Iyang mga anak maoy silbi tig pamaligya and dawat og bayad sa shabu sa ilaha rapud nga balay samtang siya magpalayo.”

Fudotan added that according to their investigation, Eugene allegedly has four other cohorts, apart from his children, and gets his supply from Cebu City.

Recovered from the house of Eugene were one medium and 34 small packets of shabu, two improvised tooters, four cell phones, five rolled tin foils, three forceps, two improvised burners and cash amounting to P900 believed to be proceeds from the illegal trade. — (FREEMAN)
