CEBU, Philippines - A police officer was arrested after he accidentally sideswiped a woman while riding his motorcycle along the national highway in Barangay Catmondaan, Catmon at about 1:40 p.m. last Wednesday.

Police Officer 1 Jefferson Guinsisana, 33, of Barangay Toong, San Remigio accidentally hit and seriously injured Daylinda Colipano, a resident of the place.

As per police investigation, Guinsisana, who is assigned at the Provincial Public Safety Company, was on off duty and was driving his Honda XRM motorcycle (3476 OT) on the way home when he accidentally hit Colipano, who was crossing the road.

Both of them suffered injuries but it was Colipano who was rushed to Juan Dosado  Memorial Hospital in Sogod town.

Colipano, who suffered serious wounds, was then referred to a hospital in Cebu City for further treatment.

Senior Police Officer 1 Wenceslao Salimbangon, Catmon police investigator, said that Guinsisana was allegedly travelling at a high speed when he hit Colipano, who was reportedly crossing the road.

Due to the strong impact, the police officer was thrown off the motorcycle and suffered injuries.

“Kusog-kusog sad gyud kuno to dagana kay nalabay man sad ang driver sa motor unya ang naigo duna may gisi sa ulo mao nga kinahanglan dad-on sa siyudad,”  Salimbangon said in a phone interview.

Guinsisana was released from police custody yesterday after he assured to shoulder Colipano’s medical expenses.

Settled amicably na man lang granting nga tanan galastuhan sa hospital ug tambal abagahon sa nakadasmag unya walay kaso nga ipasaka,” said Salimbangon.  (FREEMAN)
