Woman denies bomb joke raps

Bryner L. Diaz - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - The woman arrested at the port area for making bomb joke has denied the charges and blamed the X-ray machine operator who allegedly heard her wrong.

Charito Abao, 40, of Hubangon, Camiguin, said that the X-ray machine operator at the passenger terminal misinterpreted her. Abao said it was not her intention to sow fear among the passengers when she obliged herself to place her bag at the X-ray machine.

Although she admitted making side comment while complying with what she was told to do by  the  X-ray  machine operator.

According to her, when the operator told her to place her bag at the X-ray machine she commented, “o lagi basin naay bomba diha.” (yes, maybe there’s bomb inside.)

Abao said she was surprised when port police personnel came to arrest her.

A criminal complaint for violation of the Presidential Decree 1727 or the Anti-Bomb Joke Law was filed against Abao before the prosecutor’s office.

She was the second to be arrested this week at the port area for making bomb joke.

Jimboy Feloche, 24, of Baybay, Leyte was arrested early this week for making the same joke while at the passenger terminal. (FREEMAN)
