CEBU, Philippines - A 23-year-old man died after his throat was slit by two unknown men in Barangay Manlapay, Dumanjug town around 10 p.m. Sunday.

Robert Espedillon, a resident of Barangay Manlapay, died on the spot after his esophagus was slit by unknown perpetrators using a weapon locally known as “sanggot” while he was in a sari-sari store with his mother Lucia Espedillon, 57.

According to Police Officer 2 Romeo Legaspi Jr., investigator at Dumanjug Police Station, the victim reportedly had lots of enemies in their place because whenever the he gets drunk, he becomes a nuisance to the residents.

It was reported that Robert had been drinking liquor in the store located about two kilometers away from their house since the morning of the day of the incident.

At around 10 in the evening, the victim’s mother got worried so she fetched her son.

When she arrived at the place, the perpetrators both wearing bonnets suddenly came and killed Robert, then immediately fled away.

Legaspi admited they are having a hard time identifying the perpetrators because of the background of the victim.

Robert’s cadaver now lies at a chapel near their house. (FREEMAN)
