Kristine B. Quintas/RHM - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - The Cebu City Traffic Operations Management is reminding the public on the traffic rerouting that will be implemented Sunday for the IronMan Triathlon 2014.

Tumulak said the whole stretch of S. Osmeña Blvd will be closed from Mahiga Bridge (boundary of Mandaue and Cebu City) up to Legaspi Extension, the underpass, then to the South Coastal Road from the South Road Properties to up to the Talisay city corridor from 5 a.m. to noon that day.

He said all motorists and commuters using the thoroughfare are advised to follow the traffic signs installed on the re-routed areas so as not to cause additional traffic problems.

Meanwhile, today’s traffic dry run along S. Osmeña Boulevard will no longer push through after the contractor failed to install concrete road barriers, CITOM announced yesterday.

“Dili madayon ang atong dry run kay wa nila na-comply ang atong request nga safety measures nga ilang ibutang sa dalan during the supposed road opening like concrete barriers from General Maxilom Extension  to Juan Luna Avenue, which is delikado kay basi matagak kay elevated ang road,” CITOM Operations Chief Jonathan Tumulak said.

He said this was discussed in yesterday’s meeting with WT Construction, the contractor of the 289-million S. Osmeña Boulevard rehabilitation project that covers a toal2,503 kilometers of from the bridge near the Cebu International Port to Palma Street, near the subway across Plaza Independencia.

The dry run will only commence Wednesday next week, Tumulak said.
