Cops seize 10 gambling machines

Bryner L. Diaz - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines -  To prove that they are not being lax in their fight against illegal gambling, Carbon Police seized a number of video karera and moli-moli machines in sitio Bato, Barangay Ermita, Cebu City yesterday.

Police Officer 3 Antonio Tejero of Carbon Police Station said that around 5:00 pm yesterday, after conducting surveillance at 3 pm, they were able to confiscate six moli-moli machines, one of which already damaged, and four karera machines, with one already not functioning.

Tejero stressed that they are constantly monitoring the presence of illegal gambling machines in their area.

“Wa tawn me magpabaya sa among kampanya sa illegal gambling, but tungod sa kadaghan sa among gitubang nga alarma usahay di nato ma-focus sa pagdakop ra sa video karera,” he said.

Ermita Barangay captain Felicisimo Rupinta was quoted over radio station DYRC saying that following the confiscation of 38 video karera machines by the City Intelligence Branch last week, gambling machines were reportedly seen again around the barangay.

Rupinta has said he wanted more raids against illegal gambling machines by CIB to put a stop on its operation.  Cebu City Police Office director Noli Romana said his men are doing their jobs in the campaign against illegal gambling.   (FREEMAN)
