Cop faces pre-charge evaluation after testing positive for drug use

Ria Mae Y. Booc - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - The policeman who tested positive for illegal drug use is now facing a pre-charge evaluation before the Provincial Investigation and Detective Management Branch of the Cebu Provincial Police Office.

CPPO director Senior Supt. Noel Gillamac said the concerned policeman will be given the opportunity to contest the result as soon as the confirmatory test is released by the PNP-Crime Laboratory-7. The policeman also remains in his present assignment.

Gillamac admitted receiving no derogatory information about the policeman prior to the drug test.

“Wala mi nadawat nga derogatory record ana niya na-timing lang tingale,” Gillamac told The FREEMAN.

The policeman, whose identity remains confidential, was one of the 48 police officers from different stations in the province subjected to a random drug test last Friday.

They were called to attend the Police Intelligence Seminar conducted by the Provincial Intelligence Branch and the Regional Intelligence Division.

PIB chief Rodulfo Albotra said there would have been more participants to the seminar but those who were assigned in the island could not make it because of the bad weather condition.

“Forty eight lang ka stations ang nakaapil kay affected pa man ang ubang police stations kadtong naa sa isla so ato silang gihatagan ug excuse,” Albotra said. (FREEMAN)
