Man stabs GF dead
CEBU, Philippines - A 23-year-old man believed to be high on illegal drugs stabbed his girlfriend dead yesterday dawn in Barangay Apas, Cebu City.
Kate Montecillo, in her late 30s, was declared dead by the responding medical team of the Armed Forces of the Philippines. She had at least 10 stab wounds in different parts of her body, five of which are said to be fatal.
Montecillo, resident of Talisay City, reportedly had an argument with her boyfriend, Johnrey Soledad, resulting in the bloody confrontation. Soledad got a knife and stabbed his girlfriend several times.
Soledad's father, Rodrigo, said he was sleeping downstairs when he heard a commotion from the room of his son prompting him to check it. He found his son holding the knife and the victim already bathed with her own blood.
Rodrigo said he wrestled the knife from his son and cried for help.
The suspect was arrested but is temporarily confined at the hospital because he also sustained stab wound. It was not clear whether it was self-inflicted or he got hurt during the commotion.
Senior Police Officer 4 Alex Dacua, homicide investigator, said they found drug sniffing paraphernalia in Soledad's room. Dacua said the suspect could be high on drugs when he committed the crime.
Homicide investigator, however, are yet to determine the motive of the suspect in killing his girlfriend.
"Sa akong tan-aw dako ni ug kalagot ang suspek base sa kadaghan ug ka-fatal sa samad sa biktima," Dacua said. — /FPL (FREEMAN)
