CEBU, Philippines - Senate Majority Floor Leader and presidential aspirant Alan Peter Cayetano has urged the youth to effect change and change the prevailing system by speaking their mind.

“Young people…you have  a whole life to make a change in the system,” he said during a forum with the student leaders of the University of Visayas yesterday.

He said people from the Visayas and Mindanao should not just let it be that projects funded by the national government are focused only in Metro Manila and not dispersed to other regions.

Cayetano, who has been vocal in reminding the public on presidential ambition, said a lot need to be changed in our country.

“Every leader should have relationship with its people like the youth. Because if you have a relationship with the people, it will grow,” said Cayetano, who gave a sea ambulance to Bohol before coming to Cebu.

He has been touring around the country, making his promises a reality under his “Presyo-Trabaho-Kita” campaign.

“Our country needs a game changer. You cannot do change without people’s support,” he said.

Cebu First District Representative Gerard Anthony “Samsam” Gullas, who also attended the forum, welcomed the senator by saying that a “true leader feels the pulse of the people.”

UV president Eduardo Gullas was also present during the forum.

During the forum, several students asked Cayetano questions ranging from education, teachers’ concerns, scholarship, health, to controversial issues like the Priority Development Assistance Fund and the Disbursement Acceleration Program. — (FREEMAN)
