Police conduct info drive for high school on bullying, drugs

Ria Mae Y. Booc - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - The Women’s and Children’s Protection Desk of the Cebu City Police Office has started its information drive on anti-bullying, illegal drugs and special crimes in different public and private high schools in Cebu City.

Senior Inspector Arieza Otida, WCPD chief, said that the information drive is very timely after the recent arrest of a 15-year-old high school girl who was caught selling Nubain in Barangay Kamagayan this week.

Otida told The FREEMAN that they are educating the children on RA 9344 or the Juvenile Justice Welfare Act.

“Kini man gud ang mga high school matinumanun na kahibalo na manukol maong vulnerable ni sila sa crimes,” Otida said.

WCPD is initially focusing on public high schools due to the high number of students and Otida said she has clustered their teams according to areas.

WCPD started its information drive in the north district of the city primarily with Mabolo National High School. Next in line would be the Abellana National School.

“Ang private school ma-control pa man so okay ra nga ipa-awahi lang una,” Otida said. —/ATO (FREEMAN)
