First reg’l info summit set in Cebu City
CEBU, Philippines - Cebu City will host the very first regional information summit next week.
With a theme “Relevant Information: Tool for Sustainable Development in Tourism, Environment and Disaster Preparedness,†the event on June 9 to 11 at Elizabeth Hotel will also serve as the 21st RADIO-7 Consultative Conference.
Secretary Herminio “Sonny†Coloma from the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) will host the first day of the event while local government unit leaders like Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama and Cebu Provincial Governor Hilario Davide III are expected to welcome the delegates and visitors.
Capping the first day will be the RADIO-7 board of directors meeting, election and presentation on strategic plan.
On the second day, Tourism Secretary Ramon Jimenez, Jr. will deliver a keynote speech on Strengthening Tourism Information Through Public Information and Provincial Tourism Officers. On the same day, Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Paz Radaza will share on the city’s best tourism practices while Islands Souvenir owner Jay Aldeguer who will talk about “Tourism 2013 and Beyond: Business Challenges and Opportunities.â€
To highlight the second day will be the launching of Philippine Information Agency and Department of Environment and Natural Resources Climate Change Advocacy Campaign in Central Visayas, which will be followed by the Bayanihan in Climate Change Mitigation to be discussed by PIA Director General Jose Mari Oquiñena.
DENR-7 Regional Executive Director Isabelo Montejo will also discuss on National Greening Program Climate Change Mitigation while extreme weather patterns will be tackled by PAGASA Visayas chief Oscar Tabada.
The third and last day will have media practitioners share their expertise with participating government information officers. (FREEMAN)
