Korean: I didn’t kill wife, in-laws

Jean Marvette A. Demecillo - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - A Korean belied accusations he killed his wife and in-laws in a restaurant in Sitio Bagong Bayan, Barangay Marigondon, Lapu-Lapu City, Thursday.

Police currently hold Kim Se Wong as the suspect in the killing of his wife Young Mi An and in-laws Ho An and wife Kim Soonok at the Han Ga Wi Restaurant.

Kim Se Wong strongly denied the allegations, telling The FREEMAN that he slept ahead of his wife after they drank alcohol on May 22 at 1 a.m.

He said at 5 p.m. that same day, he went downstairs and saw the sprawled dead bodies of his wife and in-laws. Because of what he saw, he said he went up to the second floor of the building and thought of ending his life by slashing both his wrists.

He claims the victims were killed by another person and said killing his wife never crossed in his mind.

Police Officer 3 Lydo Pinos of the Lapu-Lapu Police Station said An Tae Joo, the sister of Young Mi An, declined to give a statement regarding the incident. She was here to take home the remains of her parents and sister after these were cremated at a funeral home yesterday.

Pinos said based in their initial investigation, Wong was always insulted by his in-laws which could have triggered the killing.

Pinos said she found that Wong was convicted for swindling and is still wanted until now after his sentence was handed down September 15, 2011 yet.

Wong will be presented in the sala of Cebu City Regional Trial Court Branch 18 Judge Gilbert Moises today.

Pinos said Wong will still be imprisoned because of the swindling case while the police are also preparing the parricide and multiple homicide charges against him.

It was earlier reported that Lapu-Lapu City acting police chief Senior Superintendent Armando Radoc said the police are now gathering evidence to support the filing of charges against Wong. The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-7 is also helping the Lapu-Lapu City police investigating the incident.

The discovery of the bodies happened when a customer went to the Han Ga Wi Restaurant around 5 p.m. last Thursday but noticed that it was closed. The customer looked inside and noticed bloodstains, prompting him and his companions to call the police.

When police arrived they found place in disarray as if a struggle had taken place there. They also reported finding bloodstains that led them to Wong in one of the rooms in the second floor.  —/BRP (FREEMAN)
