City of Naga gets Seal of Good Housekeeping

The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - For the second time around, the City of Naga has been awarded the Seal of Good Housekeeping for the fiscal year 2013.

“This is to certify that the City of Naga, Cebu is a recipient of the Seal of Good Housekeeping for (calendar year) 2013, Silver Grade,” read the certification issued by acting director of Bureau of Local Government, Department of the Interior and Local Government.

Mayor Valdemar Chiong owed the award to their continuous “good governance” and “transparency” being practiced in the city.

“Tungod na sa gihimo nato nga good governance practice and transparency,” he said.

For a local government to get the award, it must pass the criteria such as good financial housekeeping, disaster preparedness, social protection of the basic sector, business friendly and competitiveness, environmental compliance and law and order and public safety.

In 2012, the city first got the same award, but only the bronze place, for its good planning, sound fiscal management, transparency and accountability and valuing performance management. — (FREEMAN)
