Same group robbed four LBC branches

Ria Mae Y. Booc - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - Police believe that all four robbery incidents involving different LBC outlets in Cebu were perpetrated by the same group based on the manner of how the crimes were executed and the description of the suspects.

Provincial Investigation and Detective Management Branch investigator, Senior Inspector Wilson Abot, said security footages from the four LBC branches robbed last month revealed that the robbers appeared to be sporting the same hair style and postures. In fact, one of the robbers wore the same shirt as shown in the footages from Bogo City and Tabok, Mandaue City branches.

â€œPosible nga mao ra ning grupoha but we still have to enhance ug maayo ang CCTV footages,” Abot said.

Abot said they are now comparing the footages from the rouges gallery of every police station in the province. He said the police are now backtracking the arrests made of suspected robbers since 2008 to identify the culprits.

He admitted having difficulty in pinpointing whether this group is organized or is just composed of local boys.

“We have to check if unsa ni silang grupoha kay sa pagkakaron maglisod pa ta ug point if asa gyud ni sila nga area pero duol sa tinuod nga usa ka grupo ra ang gatira,” Abot said.

Abot said that LBC branches are becoming soft targets for robbers because its outlets do not have security guards.

“We better advise (them) to use high-definition CCTV cameras or even provide security guards, at least magpanagana ang tulisan,” he said.

LBC-Tabok, Mandaue branch lost P41,000 to robbers on March 7. Three days later, LBC-Taboan branch was also robbed of P42,000 sales. On March 22, another LBC branch in Bogo City lost P70,000 to robbers. The latest LBC branch to have been robbed was in Moalboal losing P31,000.

“Kung dili sila mo-assist namo maglisod mi ug follow-up unya malangay ang imbestigasyon…ma-file man namo ang kaso pero at large ang mga suspeks,” Abot explained. (FREEMAN)
