Police rely footage to identify robbers

Ria Mae Y. Booc - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - The Moalboal police will use the close-circuit television camera footage of the LBC outlet in Barangay Poblacion East, Moalboal to identify the suspects of Saturday’s robbery incident.

Inspector Edgar Labe, Moalboal police chief, said they will enhance the footages for clearer view of the robbers’ facial features and compare it with the other police stations.

Labe told The FREEMAN they will be exchanging notes with the other stations where LBC outlets were also robbed like in the cities of Bogo, Mandaue, and Cebu.

“Mao gyud na among plano kay makita man gyud ang mga nawong ani nila sa CCTV kay wala man gatabon sa pagsulod sa establesemento ngadto na sa pagtion sa armas dayong gawas,” Labe said in a phone interview.

Police said they will also include the Toyota Innova getaway vehicle parked outside the establishment which was seen boarded by the robbers right after the incident.

“Before pa sa tulis ang Innova diha nana sa gawas mga 30 minutes before unya two minutes lang ang robbery nakit-an na sa mga tambay sa gawas nga ang tigulangon nagtan-aw tan-aw pa sa gawas sa wala pa nisakay wala silay kalibutan nga tulis na diay to,” Labe said.

This was the fourth time in a month that LBC outlet was robbed by unidentified men.

Robbers successfully took away P40,000 from the outlet Saturday afternoon as the teller, Esmeraldo Sambrano, of barangay Lawaan, Alcantara, and its associate delivery man, Danilo Sultan, were locked inside the comfort room.

The younger robber was the first to enter followed by the older one both armed with .45 cal. pistols.

Labe admitted there was a policeman assigned as beat patrol nearby but did not even notice there was robbery happening until they alerted him.

“Tua ra man pud siya sa unahan kay tua man sad ngadto’y remittance center unya dunay mga establishments pud...dali lang gyud kaayo ang nahitabo,” he said.

Police are now coordinating with the other police stations nearby.

Last week, LBC-Bogo outlet was robbed with P70,000. Early this month, its branches in barangay Tabok, Mandaue City and barangay Taboan, Cebu City were also robbed.

Police noted the absence of security guards is the common problem of the outlets. (FREEMAN)
