Police monitor more foreigners in cybersex crimes in Talisay

CEBU, Philippines - Talisay City police are now monitoring other foreign personalities believed to be involved in cybersex crimes in that city.

City police chief, Supt. Resty Santos, believed that the arrest of Swedish Christer Johansson, 60, in Barangay Dumlog Sunday dawn would alert other foreigners who are into the same activity.

“Posible naalerto na sila ug uban nila human sa operation,” Santos said.

He said that foreigners mostly Europeans are seen at public beach resorts in Barangay Poblacion where minors also linger.

These minors are not reportedly from Talisay City.

“Kanang mga bataa di gyud na sila taga diha ambot pud kung nganong naa man sila unya dunay mga make up, sila naman lang tingale ana gabutang,” Santos said.

He, however, clarified that these foreigners are not members of any group.

Johansson was arrested by the Anti-Cyber Crime Group-7 led by Sr. Insp. Michael Virtudazo and the Talisay City police led by Santos at his rented apartment in Barangay Dumlog.

Authorities found external drives, laptops and other digital evidence from his apartment.

The search warrant for violation of Republic Act 10364 or the Expanded Anti-Human Trafficking Act was issued by Regional Trial Court Judge Macaundas Hadjirasul of Branch 8, Cebu City.

The two minors aged 14 and 15 who were rescued during the operation are now in the custody of the Department of Social Welfare and Development for debriefing.

The suspect reportedly hired minors to clean his apartment before he would ask them to buy liquors and to take nude photos of them.  Johansson is now detained at the Talisay City police stockade pending the filing of appropriate charges.

For his part, Cebu Provincial Police Office Director, Sr. Supt. Noel Gillamac, also said that they will arrest whoever is behind the illegal activity.

“They are taking advantage of women and children to sustain their needs and we cannot allow that,” Gillamac said.  (FREEMAN)
