CEBU, Philippines -  At least 40 packs of shabu were confiscated by the police from a suspected level 2 drug pusher in Sitio Lawis, Barangay Pasil, Cebu City Monday night.

Jorsal Abesa, 33, was arrested for possession of illegal drugs and will face a criminal complaint for violations of Sections 5 and 11 of RA 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002

Insp. Gomersendo Mandawe said that while elements from City Intelligence Branch were patrolling in Barangay San Nicolas-Proper, they received a tip on an illegal activity in the interior portion of  Sitio Lawis at around 11:45 p.m.

The team immediately responded and met Abesa who was holding a blue jewelry box. Upon seeing the police, Abesa reportedly dropped the box which caught the law enforcers’ attention.

â€œNasugatan siya sa among team pero pagkakita niya sa amoa, nibalik siya sa iyang agi. Na-corner siya sa isa pa namo nga team,” Mandawe said. (The suspect tried to run from the area but was caught by the other responding team).

Mandawe said that Abesa is considered a level 2 drug pusher who can dispose of 25 to 50 grams of illegal drugs a week.

The police estimated the value of the illegal drugs seized from the suspect at P8,000. (FREEMAN)
