Ex-councilman falls in drug bust
CEBU, Philippines - A former barangay councilman in Mandaue City was arrested Wednesday evening by the operatives of the Regional Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operation Task Group during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Carreta, Cebu City.
Jonathan Dichos, 35, of Paknaan, Mandaue City, was caught in the act of selling a pack of shabu worth P500 to an undercover policeman. The police subsequently recovered from Dichos several packs of shabu estimated to worth P30,000.
The police also recovered a weighing scale, cellular phone, P1,500 cash, P500 marked money, and a motorcycle.
Sr. Insp. Hendrix Bancoleta, who led the operation, said they received information about Dichos’ illegal activity, prompting them to conduct surveillance operation.
Bancoleta said that the suspect is operating in Mandaue City and Cebu City.
Dichos, however, denied that he was into illegal drug trade, describing the operation as a set up.
“Set up ra ni dakopa,†he said.
A criminal complaint for violation of Section 5, RA 9165 or Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 was filed yesterday against Dichos before the prosecutor’s office. (FREEMAN)
