CEBU, Philippines - Police have arrested a 30-year-old man allegedly involved in a series of burglaries in Cebu City.

The police identified the suspect as Rolando Sabalandi alias “Andot Bayot”, a resident of Barangay Kalunasan, Cebu City.

He was arrested midday last Sunday by virtue of a warrant for robbery issued by Regional Trial Court Judge Rafael Yrastorza.

A laptop was recovered from him during his arrest and police officers believe that the laptop was a stolen.

Senior Insp. Wynn Magbanua, deputy chief of City Intelligence Branch, said they have since received complaints from Sabalandi’s neighbors that the suspect is behind the series of burglaries in the area.

SPO2 Jeffrey Diola, CIB investigator, said it was him who received the report that Sabalandi was sighted at Magsaysay Street in Barangay Pasil. He immediately proceeded to the place to verify the report. Indeed, Sabalandi was there and Diola who was armed with the warrant arrested him.

As a standard operating procedure, Diola frisked Sabalandi and recovered from him a pack of shabu.

In an interview with reporters, Sabalandi admitted that he was behind the burglary incidents but denied he was bringing shabu at the time he was arrested.

“Angkonon nako nga ang ubang kawat gawas anang shabu (I will admit the theft but not the shabu),” he said.

A closed circuit television camera had captured Sabalandi stealing, Magbanbua said.

The laptop recovered from Sabalandi was believed to have been stolen from the RHG Apartment along General Zosa Street in Barangay Capitol Site. (FREEMAN)
