CEBU, Philippines - Two women were arrested by the police at the Mactan Cebu International Airport Wednesday afternoon because of alleged estafa.

The suspects were identified as Lilibeth Paguio and Camila Lastimosa, residents of Gemsville Subdivision in Barangay Lahug, Cebu City and Mohon, Talisay City, respectively.

They were accused by Michelle Espina, 42, resident of San Antonio Village, Barangay Apas, Cebu City, of swindling her P1.4 million worth of branded bags and Rolex Daytona watch.

Espina claimed that Paguio called her daughter on February 8 and asked if she had stocks of signature bags as she allegedly has customers willing to buy.

Espina and her daughter delivered Celine Orange mini luggage and Channel GST Jumbo bag worth P180,000 each, LU and Prada bag worth P120,000 each, Givenchy Antigona bag worth P150,000, and Rolex Daytona watch P650,000.

After the delivery, the suspect allegedly promised to get back at them in 30 minutes for the payment but did not return. The suspects were already at the airport when the responding policemen found them.

Appropriate charges are already being prepared for filing against the suspects.  (FREEMAN)
