Rama orders inventory of city properties

CEBU, Philippines - Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama has directed the city’s Land Management Office to conduct an inventory of all city-owned properties.

Rama in a press conference yesterday told lawyer Jade Ponce, chairperson of the Land Management Council, to have a thorough documentation and inventories of all the land and buildings owned by the City of Cebu before his term will end in 2016.

Rama has specified that he wants to get hold of the information about the city-owned properties particularly the status of the lot across the PNB adjacent to Cebu City Hall, land being identified as cemetery like Lorega cemetery, documentation of the Campania Maritima and Warwick Barracks, and all other contracts entered into by the city government.

“What properties do we have? Where are they now? I want all of these in documentation, so that we would be able to know its statuses,” he added.

In a separate interview, Ponce said it would be bulk of paper works and tracing of documents however, he could present the itemized summary of properties to the mayor by next month.

Apart from the inventory of city-owned properties, Ponce is tasked to handle the enhancement and rehabilitation of the Inayawan Sanitary Landfill, and improve the city’s river banks particularly the Guadalupe creek that would be part of the proposed area of the third bridge.

“I would like to see below the river to become a bicycle lane or passage way, where people will walk and jog,” he said adding that he eyed to reclaim the three-meter easements of the river banks in barangays Guadalupe and Ermita.

“Di lang ta mo-undang pag-imagine kay wa man pud kini bayad” he added.(FREEMAN)
