Man shot while playing “hantak”

CEBU, Philippines - A former police asset landed in the hospital after he was shot Saturday evening in Barangay Buhisan, Cebu City.

Claudio Bacarisas, 42, sustained a gunshot wound to the head and is currently in a critical condition after being allegedly shot by a certain Ron Jhon Labrador at around 7 p.m.

Bacarisas and Labrador both reside in Sitio Puso of the same barangay.

Personnel from the Puerto Princesa Police Station and Cebu City Police Office immediately responded to the incident.

Initial police investigation revealed that Bacarisas was playing “hantak” when the suspect approached him from behind and opened fire. The suspect immediately fled.

PO1 Reoful Adalim said that some informants disclosed to the police that the victim was a former police asset.

“Adunay nibutyag nga police asset kuno ni siya sa una ug basin gi-resbakan ni siya (victim) sa mga amigo sa nabanggaan niya,” said Adalim.

Police eye personal grudge as the motive behind the shooting.

Adalim said they are now hunting down the suspect. (FREEMAN)
