Man stabbed dead by live-in partner’s father

CEBU, Philippines - A 22-year-old man was stabbed dead by the father of his live-in partner during a heated argument in La Purisima, Bogo City Sunday evening.

Succumbed to a wound in the chest was Kevin John Balbastro, live-in partner of the daughter of the suspect, Alberto Marso.

Balbastro was rushed to the Bogo Provincial Hospital but was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.

Marso was arrested by the responding policemen after the incident and recovered from him was an 18-inch bolo believed to have been used in stabbing Balbastro.

SPO1 Condrado Estenzo said that the victim and the suspect were heard having a heated altercation inside the house.

“Naglalis rana sila unya murag nagkainitay na nisantop na hinuon sa pagpanunggab,” Estenzo said.

Balbastro and Marso were living in the same house ever since the victim and his live-in partner decided to live together.

“Mao naman lang pud nay nadunggan sa mga tao nga nag-syinagitay na mao tong mitawag dayon sila og pulis,” Estenzo said.

Yesterday, the police filed a case for murder at the Bogo City Prosecutor’s Office against Marso, who is now detained at the Bogo City Police Station.  (FREEMAN)
