Rep. Garcia submits resolution recognizing Cebuana beauty queen
CEBU, Philippines - Cebu third district Rep. Gwendolyn Garcia initiated a move in Congress to laud Cebuana beauty queen Angeli Dione Gomez who bagged the Miss Tourism International title in Putrajaya, Malaysia last December 31, 2013.
Garcia filed House Resolution 686, recognizing an outstanding Cebuana Beauty who recently gave pride and prestige to the country and the Province of Cebu.
She said that Gomez deserves to be honored just like the rest of the other beauties who elegantly represented and brought home glory to the country for showing “savvy, pulchritude and that very indomitable Filipina spirit, even in the midst of calamities, turmoil and negativities grappling our nation.â€
“This woman showed strength and an unflinching focus to give the Philippines honor and thus, it is just befitting for us and the entire nation to give due recognition to the world class feat accomplished by this woman,†said Garcia.
Garcia served as the first and only woman Governor of Cebu from 2004 to 2013.
“It is just fitting for the Philippine Congress to formally recognize such achievements through legislation because these beauty queens not only brilliantly represented the Filipino People in international competitions but also uplifted the spirit of tens of millions of their countrymen by bringing home the majestic crowns of recognition from the international community,†Garcia added.— (FREEMAN)
