Manpower, foreign exchange company burglarized
CEBU, Philippines - A foreign exchange shop located in A. S. Fortuna Street in Barangay Banilad was burglarized by unidentified men past 11 p.m. last Friday.
Report from the Theft and Robbery Section of the police identifies the establishment as AHE Manpower, Foreign Exchange owned by one Allan Hernandez.
Hernandez' nephew, Paolo Inal, was the one who reported the robbery to the police.
An ocular inspection revealed that the suspects destroyed the window grills and the sliding window of the owner's office and then carted away three CPU's, two computer monitors, six speakers, two wrist watches, and an undetermined amount of money. The valuables were estimated to cost at least P70,000.
Police investigation revealed that the company's stay-in maintenance man, Joseph Piguez, 23, was with Hernandez for the whole day at that time serving as his driver.
It was only when Piguez arrived at the office when he discovered the burglary and reported the same immediately to Inal. Piguez' cash money amounting to P3, 500 was also stolen including the long sleeved shirt he had kept in his locker.
Likewise, the money of another maintenance man, Rauld Mondeñedo, worth P3,050 was also stolen. The money was placed in a wallet inside Mondeñedo's backpack he had left at the office. Modeñedo, 52, had left for Borbon earlier last Friday.
Furthermore, police found out that the .9mm Norinco pistol, the service firearm of security guard Gremar Berandal, was also stolen. Berandal had placed the gun in a drawer at the office after his work. (FREEMAN)
