The Freeman has new publisher, editor
CEBU, Philippines - Starting today, February 1, The Freeman will have a new publisher and a new editor-in-chief.
Jerry S. Tundag has been named the new publisher while Quennie Sanchez Bronce has been designated the new editor-in-chief.
Both Tundag and Bronce rose through the ranks in The Freeman, with Tundag joining the paper as a reporter in 1982 and Bronce also as a reporter in 1998. Tundag was editor-in-chief from 2004 while Bronce was managing editor since 2013.
The Freeman is Cebu's oldest existing newspaper. First seeing print in 1919, it will be celebrating its 95th anniversary this coming July 18. It was founded by Paulino Gullas and revived by his nephew Jose "Dodong" Gullas, who now sits as chairman.
The Freeman partnered with the Philippine Star in 2004 with Star president and CEO Miguel G. Belmonte assuming the same positions in The Freeman.
The Freeman currently circulates throughout the Visayas and is available online at www.philstar.com and via STAR Group of Publications app on iPad. (FREEMAN)
