CEBU, Philippines - For testifying in a theft complaint, a 31-year-old woman was hacked to death by the suspect in Argao Wednesday morning.

Amanda Embudo was walking towards the house of her in-laws in Barangay Lingigon past 11 a.m. when she was allegedly hacked by Roel Gomez, 28, a neighbor.

She succumbed to severe hack wounds in the neck, hands, arms and chest.

Police are now hunting down Gomez who immediately fled right after the incident.

PO3 Benjamin Gerozaga, desk officer, said that Embudo was walking when Gomez, armed with a bolo, attacked her.

“Katunga siguro sa liog ang naabis mura’g lunggoan unta tingale,” Gerozaga said.

People nearby saw the incident and rushed Embudo to Isidro Kintanar Memorial Hospital where she was declared dead upon arrival by the attending physician.

According to Gerozaga, Embudo testified in a complaint alleging that Gomez stole some coconuts.

The theft allegation was only brought to the barangay and there was no case filed against Gomez in court.

“Gi-barangay na kuno na unya ang ni-witness ang kana mang biktima maoy nadumtan,” Gerozaga said.  (FREEMAN)
